The registry of certified clinicians in Preschool PTSD Treatment (PPT) and Youth PTSD Treatment (YPT) can be downloaded here. Last updated 10/4/2024.
The PPT manual is available as a book, Treating PTSD in Preschoolers: A Clinical Guide, from Guilford Press (see the Books tab on this website).
Twenty-one instructional videos to complement the book showing how to implement PPT techniques with very young children can be viewed on YouTube here.
Effectiveness and feasibility were demonstrated in a clinical trial (Scheeringa et al., 2011). PPT was recognized in SAMHSA's National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP) and the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse.

Dr. Scheeringa has developed and validated many assessment and treatment tools, most of which are available free to download from the links below. If download links are not available, email Dr. Scheeringa at [email protected]. The most popular tools include:
Youth PTSD Treatment (YPT). A 12-session protocol using CBT to treat PTSD in older children and adolescents.
Treatment for Youth With Disorders of Anxiety (TRYDAT). A 14-session protocol using CBT to treat anxiety disorders in children and adolescents.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Disorders of Anxiety (CBTDAT). A 14-session protocol using CBT to treat anxiety disorders in adults.
Diagnostic Infant and Preschool Assessment. The DIPA interview is one of the few psychiatric diagnostic interviews for very young children, and the only one to have been tested in a clinical population, and the only one updated for the DSM-5. The DIPA covers 16 disorders. The original version used binary yes/no responses (Scheeringa and Haslett, 2010), and a newer, revised version used Likert-style responses (DIPA-L) to provide better dimensional severity scores (Scheeringa, 2020). Click here for the most recent version of the DIPA-L.
Download the DIPA user manual, which contains background information and instructions on scoring.
Click here for a list of all papers and posters that have used the DIPA (Updated 2/19/2024).
